Work programme

In order to achieve the expected results, we will divide the work programme into 3 phases: a survey and draft phase, a pilot and development phase and a production phase.

Phase I - Survey and draft

Duration: Oct. 2005 - Feb. 2006
Expected outcomes
  • Background Paper (Rationale of the project)

Aim
  • To map and identify the existing practices, literature and research, competencies and skills concerning the threefold approach to vocational education and training.
  • Curriculum draft for a European training the trainers course in the "threefold" model. Develop the contents of the modules, with the input of the course participants.
Working methods
  • Theoretical research conducted on the epistemological background of the threefold method. Literature search. Identify existing training expertise in this field.
  • Three aspects will be explored through the survey report:
    • A questionnaire will be sent to all partner institutions.
    • Course participant will write reports about their experiences in the field.
    • Interviews will be conducted with representatives of the three categories of people directly concerned: - Disabled people or their representatives - Students in the field of special education and social therapy - Trainers in the three modes of learning.
Valorisation (dissemination and exploitation activities)
  • dissemination of the Background Paper and the Survey report by direct mailing
  • summaries in internal Newsletter and professional periodical (Seelenpflege)
  • updating the ECCE website with information on the project
  • producing an A4 sheet form for documentation of the different partners' reporting of local and regional dissemination activities.

Phase II - Pilot and development

Duration: March 2006 - March 2007
Expected outcomes
  • Curriculum - a European Training the Trainers Programme.
Aim
  • To bring together experienced and motivated trainers from all over Europe to 4 one-week blocks, in order to demonstrate, test, develop and assess methodological aspects of the threefold approach to vocational training.
Working methods
  • Pilot course:
    • Create a mixed and balanced group of participant trainers (lecturers, practice tutors/instructors and artists).
    • Integrative project work between the 3 professional groups mentioned above.")
    • Tutoring/mentoring: Each course participant trainer will have a tutor/mentor who is a member of the course team.
    • Ongoing documentation and dissemination.
Valorisation (dissemination and exploitation activities)
  • European Conference, April 2006, for presentations and demonstrations of Pilot course content and methods in plenary and workshop sessions.
  • Various dissemination activities in the European conference in April: drawing up national dissemination plans, group discussions.
  • Local and regional follow-up workshops.
  • Course participants' assignments (integrative project work) for implementation of the threefold approach in their own organisations.
  • Summaries and course participant contributions in internal Newsletter and professional periodical (Seelenpflege)
  • Translation of course material by the national coordinators.
  • Updating the ECCE website with information on the project
  • Organising the Reference group meeting No.1 in Kassel, April
Involvement of target groups/potential users
The target groups will have representatives at the dissemination conference in Kassel 2006, enabling them to give feedback in workshop and plenary sessions. The target group (students, employees, co-workers) and the potential users (trainers) will be involved by organising a European Conference for 70 participants where also trainers outside the partnership will be invited, as well as representatives from our reference group partners the Swedish trade union "Medarbetareförbundet", the European Council for Waldorf Pedagogics, BundesElternVereinigung and the Romanian national institute for preventing social exclusion INPCESPH. The partnership will also invite interested trainers from Russia and other former Soviet Union countries.

Phase III - Production

Duration: April 2007 - Sept. 2007
Expected outcomes
  • Research report - publication
  • European institute for continuing training of trainers in the treefold approach.
  • European Training Network for curative education and social therapy
Aim
  • To document the use and the innovative methods of the threefold approach to vocational training in a research content, in order to make this model known in the ongoing European debate on training methods.
  • To establish a European Programme for training the trainers in this model, carried by the training organisations which meet annually in Kassel
Working methods
  • Organising a concluding Conference II in April 2007, planning for future networking and course responsibility.
Valorisation (dissemination and exploitation activities)
  • European Conference, April 2007, valorisation strategy after the project's end. Agreements for future networking and training the trainers course development
  • Evaluation of the dissemination and exploitation activities.
  • Updating the ECCE website with information on the project
  • Organising the Reference group meeting No.2 in Kassel, April 2007
