Products

The main products will be:
  • Curriculum
A common continuous programme for the 3 groups of training facilitators (teachers, artists, practice tutors).
  • Research report
Survey, epistemological foundation, innovative aspects, documentation of the pilot course for trainers, conclusions.
  • European institute
Permanent course available after the project's end and carried by the existing network. The course will be delivered over 1.5 years in 4 one-week blocks (modules) and offered to all the training centres and work places for curative education and social therapy in Europe.

Target groups, impact and transfer

A competence network in the methods of the threefold approach will be built up during the project's implementation, involving more than 40 training centres from 14 countries (in the planned European dissemination conferences). More than 10 000 co-workers and students in curative education and social therapy covered by the ECCE network will be reached and influenced by this activity and thus enabling them to take a step forward in their response to the challenges put forward in the summary: The changes in professional profile for the people employed in the health and social sector and more specifically in the work with disabled persons.

At the macro level, information about these training methods will reach the other European organisations working for the disabled persons through the ECCE as a member of the European Disability Forum (EDF). We also expect this competence network to have an influence on the ongoing debate on vocational training methods in Europe through the publication of a research report, describing the threefold approach in a research context.

Impact on the end target group

The ECCE and many of the partners involved in this project are engaged in the support of people in need of special care, within communities which integrate (1) work (high quality craft workshops and agriculture), (2)training/education and (3)cultural activities (music, painting, festival plays etc..). The integration of these 3 social fields is a core aspect of the pedagogical methodology of the threefold approach. Accordingly, the implementation of the project and the follow-up after the project's end will have a considerable impact on the daily work with the end target group - children, youths and adults with special needs and learning difficulties.

Impact after the project's end

The European Training for trainers programme developed during the project, will be put into practice on a permanent basis, after the project is completed. It will be carried by the existing network of the ECCE and the international network developed during the international conferences. This will ensure a sustainable impact of the project's results.

Transfer

Actions planned for transfer to other groups, sectors and geographical contexts:

  • The European Disability Forum will be considered as an interested third party, and will be informed about the project's development.
  • ECSWE (European Council of Steiner Waldorf Education) has agreed to participate in the Reference group as a dissemination partner. This organisation represents 570 schools in Europe and the methods developed in the project will be of great interest for the professional training of teachers in that sector.
  • The University of Aberdeen has agreed to participate as a partner, actively involved in the development process in order to explore the relevance of the threefold method for the professional training at an academic level.
  • The work with and care for mentally handicapped persons is growing rapidly in the CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries). One of the partners - Die Freie Akademie(P6) - is actively involved in the financial support of organisations from these countries (among them Russia) interested in participating in the European conferences.
  • The threefold approach to vocational training should be of considerable interest to all professions working in the third sector and in the so-called interactive professions.
